The Man Whisperer

If you have seen the movie, The Horse Whisperer, or the Dog Whisperer on the

National Geographic Channel, maybe you will understand what I mean by The Man

Whisperer.

In The Horse Whisperer a twelve year old girl is hit by a car while riding

her horse.  The horse is so traumatized that no one can get close to it, even to

groom it.  It goes completely wild and crazy.  So they take the horse out

west to the Horse Whisperer to get healed.  After a long process, the Horse

Whisperer first ties one of the horse’s legs and runs it in circles until it is

tired.  The he forces the horse to lie down and gets on top of it.  By this time

the horse is calm and submissive.  Then he puts the little girl on the saddle

while he gets off.  The horse gets up and is completely obedient and sane

after that.

On the Dog Whisperer series, the process is similar.  Cesar, the Dog

Whisperer says he cures dogs and trains owners.  He says no dog problem is too tough

for him to handle.  He has about thirty dogs that used to have emotional

problems, and they all live in harmony and peace together.

Some of the emotional issues that these dogs have are biting other dogs or

people viciously, dogs that constantly chase their own tail, constantly bark,

hump people’s legs, will not let others get near their food, and various other

fixations and phobias.  One dog had a fixation on light, and would constantly

chase light reflections.  Others would pull their owners down the street while

they would follow uncontrollably.  One dog would run back and forth for hours

in the back yard until it had worn a deep path in the grass.  Another would

not enter a building that had a slippery floor.  Cesar, the Dog Whisperer,

quickly cured all of these dogs.

Let us see if we can make the analogy.  God is the Man Whisperer.  Do you

have any of the above problems?

How the Problems are Fixed

Here is how the problems of dogs and men are fixed.

1. Proper exercise.

The dog must have exercise.  He should be taken for an hour walk daily.  "Man

shall live by the sweat of his brow."  Work has healing power.

2. The dog must learn that he is not human.

Many people treat their dog as if he were a member of the family.  Cesar

points out that dogs are not happy when treated that way because they are not

human.  Man wants to be god, or wants God to treat him as if he were.  When men

question God, they are setting themselves up as God’s judge.

3. The dog must learn that his master is the pack leader.

If the dog thinks he is his master’s pack leader he will have many emotional

problems.  Man must learn that God is the boss.

4. The dog must be prostrated.

The ritual that has great significance to a dog is when the pack leader lays

him prostrate.  The work of humiliation must be completed before we can be

totally prostrated by God.

5. The dog must be in a calm submissive state before he can be happy.  As

long as man is distracted and nervous, he is still not delivered (saved).

6. The dog must sense that his master is the pack leader and that his master

is calm and assertive (not excitedly assertive).  "The Lord is my Shepherd;I

shall not want."

The Way We Get Humbled

1. As I said earlier, the work of humiliation must be completed before we can

be cured (saved).  The process is explained in Isaiah 4.  It says there that

our filth and sin is washed away by "the spirit of judgment and by the spirit

of burning."    That means trouble.  Paul said, "We must through many

tribulations enter the kingdom of God."  (Acts 14:22)  "A fire goes before Him, And

burns up His enemies round about."  (Ps 97:3)   "The temple was filled with

smoke from the glory of God and from His power, and no one was able to enter the

temple till the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed."  (Re 15:8)

No one can enter God’s Presence until His fire has completed its work on us.

It is called "the work of humiliation."

2. Then it says that after that "there will be a covering.   And there will

be a tabernacle for shade in the daytime from the heat, for a place of refuge,

and for a shelter from storm and rain."

You can force a dog to lie down, but until his ears are laid back in a calm

submissive posture, he is still a rebel. Men, too, must lay their ears back to

listen to the voice of God.
