The Mark of the Beast in the Current Culture War

Text: Rev. 14:9-13 & 15:2-4

Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone 
worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his 
hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is 
poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented 
with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence 
of the Lamb.  And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they 
have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever 
receives the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints; here are those 
who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.  (Rev 14:9-12)

J. R. Rushdoony says, "Without law, society would collapse into anarchy and 
fall into the hands of hoodlums."   This is what is happening with the Supreme 
Court.  By making up their own laws instead of going by the original intent of 
the Constitution, we are becoming lawless and being ruled by hoodlums.  

Rush Limbaugh says, "For liberals, the Supreme Court is god, and abortion is 
their sacrament."  The Constitution means nothing to liberal judges.  Dr. 
James Dobson says, "Religious values are under attack in the courts.  They are 
forcing gay marriage, abortion, and taking away private property.  According to 
the liberal judges, religious documents and icons are not fit for display on 
government property, unless they are first stripped of all their religious 
significance."  They are breaking the amendment that says they shall not prohibit 
the free exercise of religion.  Judge Roy Moore was told by the court that he 
could not acknowledge God.  "HAIL CAESAR!"

Rushdoony goes on to say,  "Thomas Paine, in the Rights of Man, affirmed as a 
fundamental principle the sovereignty of the nation-state, declaring, ‘the 
nation is essentially the source of all sovereignty; nor can any INDIVIDUAL, OR 
ANY BODY OF MEN, be entitled to any authority which is not expressly derived 
from it.’   Paine and the French Revolution clearly affirmed their 
totalitarianism by this statement.  The state as god became the source of authority, 
morality, and dominion."

Let us see if we can make the analogy of how the Beast of 64 A.D. applies to 
today’s culture war.  Only by "going then and there," are we able to make a 
correct application of the Bible for here and now.  Let us see if it is true 
that those who say what Thomas Paine said, have clearly taken the Mark of the 
Beast.

THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE BEAST
Any government that makes itself god, is called a beast, just like Rome was.  
If the shoe fits, wear it.  Rome under Caesar was the Beast.   Nero, whose 
name in Hebrew spells 666, was the Beast incarnate.  The Beast was wounded by 
the sword and lived again. (Rev 13:3)  Rome fell, but seems to be alive in those 
who want the state to hold absolute sovereignty over God’s law. Today, we 
have the same characters with different names.  The Beast was, and is not, and 
yet is.  (Rev 17:8)  The Beast of today still gets its power and authority from 
the Dragon.  (Rev 13:2)  The Beast ascends out of the bottomless pit of the 
human heart.  (Rev.11:7)  All the world marvels at the Beast and worships its 
mental image.  (Rev 13:4)  The vast majority of today’s college professors and 
media subscribe to the image of a sovereign state that wants to "break [God’s] 
bands asunder and cast [His] cords" away.  The Beast makes war against the 
saints and overcomes them for a time (But only for a limited time.  In the end, 
God’s people win.).  (Rev 13:7)
The Beast Is Given A Mouth  
And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies.   (Rev 13:5)
The Beast supports and works in conjunction with the false prophet.  (Rev 
13:15)  The false prophet in New Testament times was the Faithful City that had 
become a harlot (Isa 1:21).  The chief priests were a blasphemous mouth-piece 
for the Beast when they said, ""We have no king but Caesar!" and "Crucify Him!" 
 In saying this, they were taking the mark of the beast.  (Since the seal of 
God is spiritual, it must follow that the mark of the Beast is spiritual.)  
The false prophets of today are the left wing media and college professors.  
They are the Whore that is supported by the Beast and by those who worship its 
mental image.

One Cannot Buy Or Sell Without The Mark Of The Beast.  (Rev 13:17)
Recently, an employee for Allstate was fired because he had written articles 
on the Internet against gay marriage.  He was not allowed to buy or sell 
because he refused to be marked.

The End Result
The false prophet (the Whore of Babylon) was betrayed by the nations.  (Rev 
17:16,17)
* "And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, 
make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire.
 "For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one 
mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are 
fulfilled.

Just as the ten provinces of Rome turned against Jerusalem, so it shall 
happen again.  The die is cast.  Just as the Lord came in 70 A.D. , so He will come 
with His saints, capture the Beast and the False Prophet and throw them into 
the lake of fire.  He did it then, and He repeated it with the conversion of 
Constantine and the Reformation.  May He do it again in our day.  The culture 
war is raging.  May Michael and his angels do it again!  And I saw something 
like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the 
beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name, 
standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God.  (Rev 15:2)
